Starting and finishing at Linford Christie Stadium, this fast and fully flat 10K course heads out onto Scrubs Lane…

0 km Linford Christie Stadium Start on the track, out through the Scrubs gate.
1-3 km Scrubs Lane Wide, straight and gently downhill towards the canal.
3-5 km Wood Lane Past Westfield and White City towards Shepherd's Bush.
5 km Shepherd's Bush Green Sweeping around the Green at the halfway point, with the crowd at its thickest.
5-7 km Uxbridge Road The long straight stretch west — the fastest section of the course.
7-9 km Bloemfontein & South Africa Road Past Loftus Road, then north back towards the Scrubs.
9-10km km Wormwood Scrubs Across the south of the common and back onto the track for the finish.

The last 200 metres are on the eight-lane track at Linford Christie Stadium — the home of Thames Valley Harriers, a club that has sent athletes to the Olympic Games from this corner of West London for over a century.

Baggage, toilets, water and the results screen are all inside the stadium, so your family can watch the finish and meet you in the same place.

Thames Valley Harriers is our main local cause. It is the athletics club at the heart of running in West London, based on the same common the race is run around — and by racing with us, you are helping support it.

Thames Valley Harriers is a community athletics club supporting athletes from youth through to elite level, with a proud history of success at the highest level of the sport, including the Olympic Games. Based at Wormwood Scrubs, it brings together athletes from diverse backgrounds and encourages them to train, compete and achieve together.

Athletes compete across track and field, cross country and road running, from grassroots and youth competitions through to senior, masters and international championships. The club is run by volunteers, and plays a leading role in the development of athletics in the UK as a founding member of several major leagues.

Why support TVH? Because it is such an important part of West London. The club helps people of all ages to enjoy athletics, become healthier and achieve their goals — and it does it a few hundred metres from the start line. From Wormwood Scrubs to the world stage, TVH supports athletes at every level.

Where your entry goes

A race that funds local athletics

West London Run is organised by WLR Ltd, and the money the race generates stays in the borough. It goes to two things — Thames Valley Harriers, the local athletics club we are proud to support, and the refurbishment of Linford Christie Stadium, the track you finish on. Both are a few hundred metres from the start line.

You can also raise money for a partner charity when you enter, and 100% of what you raise goes straight to them.

Volunteer

The race needs 80 volunteers. It will not happen without them.

One marshal for every 25 to 30 runners, plus cover at every junction on the course. You do not need to be a runner, a member of a club, or experienced at anything — you need to be able to stand outside for a morning and shout encouragement at strangers.

Groups are welcome and are the easiest way to do it. A school year group, a workplace team, a scout troop or a running club can take a whole junction between them.

How it works

Tell us roughly when you are free and whether you are coming alone or as a group. We will match you to a job, confirm by email in March, and send the briefing and your jacket before race day.

Minimum age is 16 to marshal alone, or 12 with a responsible adult on the same junction. All volunteers are insured under the event's public liability cover. TBC
